Getting Fixed
Pacing the Panic Room is out of commission for awhile. My macbook died last week and I do not have reliable regular access to another machine to be able to sit and write, or upload photos for that matter. So while I get new guts for my computer, and calm down from losing so many of my pictures and new stories from the crash, I won't be updating. I was told 7 days (maybe longer). I'm excited to get this thing back and jump into new updates and continue the story. Until then I will be shooting away, and keeping a mental log so that I can get caught back up here when I get my laptop back. See you all soonish.

gawd I hate when that happens. have you tried dropbox? my brother also has twin external harddrives named fred and george that save his bum when his computer dies (he's a DJ and has about a zillion gigs of music)

holy shit. i can't even imagine. i hope you get the guts shoved back in your computer quickly and can recover some things lost.
I feel your pain! Our imac crashed a few months ago (not backed up at all) and only now am I getting close to organising the recovered files. I didn't really care about anything except the photos.

my apt got robbed a few weeks back and they took my laptop. i ordered a new one, had it sent to work, and its gone missing too. falsely signed for by a fed ex driver, so it seems.
stroke of bad luck.

My macbook died a few weeks ago. I lost everything, including thousands of photos. I back most of my stuff up, but not consistently until I got Time Machine on my new iMac.
I love my mac, but it does seem like a lot of people have hard drive problems with macbooks. Anyone else? Mine was less than two years old.
I replaced the HD, but Apple was unable to recover ANY of my files.
Great! I come by to see how you are and then you are on hiatus - so not fair!! but forgivable!! LOL

The husband has just gone through a similar experience. A graphic designer and he was out of action for a week.

ah yes, i have also learned the cruel lesson of how macbooks are the devil's product. they give you everything, but can take it all away so easily.. sounds like you could really use a beach vacation right about now ;)
haha, but seriously, just so you know we've got two huge beach umbrellas if you guys want to come one weekend before the 6 month no sunscreen waiting period. seeing jason's amazing beachside handstands are worth the trip, if nothing else.
Ah the old fashioned way of things— actually remembering them.
My Mac at home is getting very long in the tooth. I cannot wait until I get a new one so that I can do those things I planned on doing but just didn't have the computing power to do so.

same thing happened to ours. When we asked the geniuses at Apple, they said 100% of the time this will happen. Comforting!!
But now we have a refurbished version of our old comp, with a new keyboard and a fast-lots-of-memory internal hard drive. Awesome!!
