Maternity Series (now with new & improved easier to read baby notes)
Hello Monday morning,
So I took a look at the series and realized that maybe, just maybe I had chose a little too light of grey for the text color in Trish's notes to The Bean, and so I gave this exciting new darker look a try. Hope it helps. It was so odd to see Trish show up for her picture this week and watch her walking around asleep on her feet. I swung the door open to greet her and I had that "Oh yeah" moment and remembered how tired Cole was in this phase of her pregnancy. I was like: "how could I have forgotten about this already?" I thought Cole was never going to be awake ever again. So when we started to take this weeks picture I told her: "Just let this exhausted thing happen, don't try and fight it." Her heavy boots barely came off the ground when she did her walk by on this chunk of the block. You can read a million pregnancy books and they will say something like: "You might start to feel extra tired around this time." but maybe they should just change the heads up warning to Dad's to something like this: "You will start to notice that your partner will feel like their brain turned off and her eyes will want to stay closed and tight, there is no amount of sleep that will satisfy their exhaustion... good luck and do not disturb the peace." I mean I have no idea if that is what is going on, but having seen it twice now, that is how I would write the book.
Thanks for tuning in and taking a look. Don't forget to grab that scroll bar and slide on down the road to see the whole series. Someone asked me "why do you keep posting the same picture every week?" I was like "scroll bar." and they were like "Huh?!" and I was like "exactly." I am still working on a new way to present this series and hopefully by next Monday will have something permanent in place. Enjoy.

i love the pics...i love everything about your blog. its fantastic!!
This is a great series; she is seriously glowing even as she admits she's tired.
Does Trish have a blog? Did I miss that link?
@mommaruth- nope, she does not have a blog.
@ Miss Iris- Thanks for the smile.
can't get over how awesome this is. thank you, thank you! your photos are tops. and your friend is a darling.
ps. maybe you could write the next 'what to expect when you're (or your partner is) expecting'. i would love to get all your advice/notes in one fell swoop.
ps. am liking the the new deeper grey text.
Trish is absolutely gorgeous, glowing with radiance and love.
Ryan you know, I am completely at peace with our decision not to have any more babies but every Monday my ovaries cry a little. I wish you'd been around my neck of the woods when I was pregnant.
I love this series.
I love how the birds are flying away from the roof in the last one. Trish is beautiful.
Love that the series is back. Trish is beautiful, and I've enjoyed checking in each week to see the new picture.
As for the tiredness at this phase of pregnancy, its so true. I'm at 21 weeks, and I have to fight myself to wake up, but I do it because I have to. At the same time, there are bursts of energy here and there when I'm able to get a lot of work done.
Looking forward to the future shots. :) Happy Monday.
you should write that book. seriously.
I love the way the series is put out there. It's fun to scroll through the walk!!
Such gorgeous photos, the new mom-to-be looks lovely!
blessings!
The Sleepwalk to 40 Weeks.
HAHAHA GET IT? I AM SO FUNNY!!!1111!!111
But seriously the series is great so far.
@ Crissy- I chose to treat Cole like a grizzly bear when she would sleep, I was careful to never ever disturb her sleep and when I did have to wake her it was done with caution.
@Summer- I will write that What to Expect book if Cole and I have about 10 more babies. Maybe by then I will know enough to write a book :)
@ Vonnie- Thank you for RT and the encouragement.
How can someone be totally excited to follow the pregnancy of a total stranger?! I dont know but I am!
Beautiful pics!!
I wish I had found someone with your talent and creativity to take a maternity series of me when I was preggs. These are going to be so awesome to look back on for years and years to come.
Also, thanks for changing the text color. I was straining to read the light grey and felt myself going blind in the process. This is MUCH better!!
This is awesome!!! Love the pics ...what a great way to create memories.
What a beautiful mama. And I really, really love your concept of walking through the neighborhood each week. So much cooler than the usual boring maternity pictures people do in a studio with a black velvet drape behind them.
You really only know good-looking women don't you? Lucky!
This maternity series is beautiful, the concept is really cool.
nooo, don't change the scroll bar format. I totally get it, Trish is walking down the street and its super cute seeing her progress. Maybe as a suggestion, change the current picture to be the first pic seen and continute to the past photos??
I like the different color text too. And I love Trish's boots. And I still send the link to Cole's birth story to everyone. It would be a great first chapter or prologue to a book! (I'm just sayin'...every blogger I've followed so far has done it).
@ Dustan & Betsy- has done what? What have they done?
A water birth.
J/k.
Written a book.
@ Dustan & Betsy- I don't think I will ever write a book because I don't think I have anything new to say about the subject. I am holding out for my own TV show :)
love the scroll effect...love how you capture all the feeling! fantastic
The darker grey is definitely easier to read....then again, I might not be the best judge. My eyes are reeeeeeally bad.
Is it just me & my tired, pregnant eyes, or are the last two in the series lighter text than the first few? I might not have noticed, except that you SAID it would be easier to read, and it was...at first...
I think Dustan & Betsy is/are right. You should publish a book. There are books for photography and your stuff is worthy. I would buy it. Just sayin'.
@Bri (like the cheese)
I noticed that too. It does seem lighter on the last two.
Bunch of crazy bloggers.
She's looking great by the way!
Hi Ryan, just out of curiosity, do you know Trish's due date? I think we may be due around the same time...As in mid-May.
I adore this series.
One of my favorite things about the progression is that you get a glimpse of the next house or you can see a bit of the previous one in each shot.
Great work!
I dig the scroll bar! Keep it! Good job. I love artistic feel of the photos.
This is such a cool series. I love the scrolling, too - really great concept.
I love your new maternity series, gorgeous! The deeper grey text works well too.
oh, i just love this. she is oh-so-pretty.
yeah! a new series! Can't wait for more!
p.s. I'm so glad you tried the pizza! Were the eggs delicious on there?
p.p.s. Is there any way to ask the beautiful Momma where she got her Faux Fur jacket? Im in dire need.
oooo i love the blue dress. gorgeous color and shape. the new shade of grey is perfect!
I actually really like the scrolling so I can see each week go by every time.
Your work is amazing. Wish I'd lived near you and known you when I was pregnant.
Your maternity photo series is truly inspiring. Love your work. Take a look at mine if you have the time. I'm just starting to blog. I'm a newbie.

The dark grey text is much better, nice one.
This is just beautiful. Love the slight twist to the concept from the original maternity series. Will keep checking every week!
