Love Stories - Ashley & Ryan
It was so much fun showing you all the last wedding video that I made HERE, that I had to do it again after I finished this edit for Ashley & Ryan. As I get more and more interested in making video, and even more specifically, in the editing of video, I decided that I would make it a goal to book six weddings in the 2011 season and see how far I can take this making "love stories" thing. Just six. I don't think I could handle more than that. I am really loving making these, but again this has much to do with me being spoiled by the clients I have been lucky to have so far.
This one passed the test, as I showed it to Cole and she started to get emotional and got the cry eyes. I asked her: "Do you think they will like this?" and she gave me that sweet little smack on the shoulder and was like "duh! Look at him smile at her, how can someone not like that?"
As far as the challenge of being able to tell a good love story in just a few minutes, I knew I had it made the first time I saw the groom (Ryan), smile at his bride (Ashley), it was ridiculously sweet. Guys usually don't let that big of a smile loose that often, and this guy was not shy about being in love with her, not even around all his buddies and brother, he never played it off as no big deal, you could see this was a huge deal to him, and it was really cool to key in on it.
Ashley & Ryan were supposed to get married right at magic hour and it would have been amazing in this lake setting, but the Florida summer rolled off a late hard hitting storm that lasted a good couple hours, and dumped a serious amount of water on everything. it was interesting to watch how everyone held up under the stress of plans being screwed with by Mother Nature, how they rolled with things, seeing Ashley instantly calm down after a simple quick reassuring text message from Ryan. You could tell his words were soothing, in that really great way. Don't you just love that kind of calm? When your love can look at you and say, "this is all gong to be fine" and you know that it will.
Despite the soggy skies, they threw a great party and everyone in attendance was so bright you didn't notice the rain at all. Big smiles, happy families, really supportive friends and buddies, this was a great group of people that were genuinely bummed when it was all over. I think this group had another few hours of dancing and partying in them. I was really happy I got to be a part of this one, and that I met Ashley & Ryan.
So here they are...
This gorgeous song is called 'Nannerl" and it is by: Julius Airwave, and you can buy it right HERE for cheap.

What a happy and gorgeous couple, they look so lovely! And that song was beautiful too!
Beautiful Ryan. Just beautiful!
god! that's awesome. i got the "cry eyes" too.
Gorgeous. Not only do I want to have another baby so you can photograph it, now I want to get married again too. (To the same man, of course.)
Cried. loved it.
still crying. you make the best wedding videos ever. no joke.
I want to marry my wife all over again just so I can have you immortalize it on film. Beautiful!
another great video
After seeing this video and the last I want to move to Florida, from California and get married again! Wonderful job! I look forward to the next.
Hi! I found out about 'Do Fun Stuff' from the Fast Company article that was retweeted by Tweet Smarter. Have you tried to contact other celebrities on Twitter besides Ellen?
@Alyssa_Milano (Yes!) has 1 million + followers and does a lot of philanthropic work.
Also, @mashable has would probably be interested! It has 2 million + followers & often publishes blog posts about internet success stories.

I really love the album! All the best to you and your family,
Melanie
Ryan, you are so talented....love the editing and I look forward to the other love stories!!! Great job!
Isn't Paradise Cove fun? Excited to work with you on Cicely's wedding. :)
Your wedding videos always make me cry, they're so beautiful. Can I call you in 10 years so you can make my wedding video? :)
Wonderful! I loved loved LOVED the toasting part. Doesn't matter at all what the people were saying--the bride/groom reactions were captured so beautifully.
okay Ryan i'll be really honest: I cried.
It's really beautiful and as you said, you can tell how meaningful was this for them.
I really hope to be blessed with this kind of love.
oh i forgot to ask, so if i get married here in Panama, would you mind to accept the job even though the weather here is worse than Florida's?! =)
That is so beautiful. You have a real talent when it comes to capturing raw emotion. They look like a beautiful couple. I loved their parents, especially when the bride's dad takes her hand to go dance and then you see the groom dancing with his mom. It fast forwarded me to my children's weddings (obviously only if they WANT to get married, hee hee!) and what I would feel like as a parent seeing my babies getting married. You have a talent, like I said :).
I love the shot of her ring on his shoulder during the toasts! And the swinging written best man speech. Your stuff isn't boring.
ryan, honest-to-god, the SECOND i get engaged, i'm going to be calling you for a wedding video.
ps: i live in paris (the original one), and if i have to forego a string quartet and bridesmaids dresses to get you here, i damn well will. that's how good you are.
Very pretty. Your wedding videos definitely offer something a little different.
I'm curious, when someone hires you do you provide another video in addition to this one that's more typical (shows everyone walking down the aisle, has dialogue, etc.)? Or are people usually satisfied with just this one?
@ Francine- In this case for Ryan & Ashley we worked out a deal for me to make them 3 of these. A getting ready into the ceremony, the one I showed here, and a more loose, dance party, cake cutting, bouquet tossing, bridal party partying and guests smiling kind of thing.
I don't think I would take a job if the client wanted something more traditional. I mean, this is kind of how I do it for now, and if people dig it, then I am happy to make them some vignettes of their day.
Maybe as I get better and more ambitious I can try some new things.
I am making sure I answer you thoroughly so you can't say I ignore you :)
hahaha sillyyy. My original comment meant to prove the point that even though people weren't commenting it didn't mean they weren't reading and all that, but thanks for the thorough answer ;)
It's nice to be able to choose the jobs that fit you well rather than just doing the generic thing, though. There's plenty of that out there now.
I hope that one day before my husband gets stationed somewhere else that I have a chance to hire you for something. I think you are absolutely amazing and you fantastic work.
OMG. I just had a flash-forward vision of the day I get to dance with my son at his wedding and seeing my baby all grown up. Wow. Love this video.
that was really, really beautiful. great job!!
Rain is god's blessing
Oh Ryan! You have the touch! You are creating such beautiful, priceless keepsakes! I desperately want to fly you out to Australia for my wedding in February!!

G-d bless The Internet. Because it brings things like this to me.
Your work is so beautiful, so finely crafted, and you are truly gifted.
I'm in Israel, with a daughter who could be getting married sometime in the next year or two. I would seriously cut back on some luxuries if it meant you could be here. :-) Interested in something different?!
(seriously, have you ever been to a "proper" Jewish wedding? Its something else...)
Wow.. This is amazing. So glad I found your blog through Dooce. I just upgraded to a 5D Mark 11 and I want to VIDEO! but have been a bit intimidated by the camera and have been getting to know it for the past few month... this gives me inspiration. You really told their story!
Also found you through Dooce and you just enabled my first cry of the day, at work. This video was beautifully, artfully, amazingly done. I would be SO humbled if someone was able to catch my happiness and encapsulate it into a video like that. What a priceless keepsake for the happy couple.
Well done.
Shanley
What a beautiful video....the honesty that comes through is absolutely breath taking....I must go now and wipe my buckets of tears!!!
