When I Will Be Back
Hi
Some exciting things are happening that I have to give my complete attention to. So I wanted to make sure instead of just playing ghost with no explanation-- that I would at least pop in here to say that I will be back in full swing on Nov. 1st with the "Do What You Love" series, and "Two and a Half Minutes with Tessa", and all of it. The whole damn thing. I will be back. I promise. The pile on the desk is too high with unrelated work, and it does me no good to let it get any higher.
I didn't want to just slap stuff up in here for the sake of content each week, so please hang tight. Everything is super great. Hopefully not too long from now I can share some good news. Who knows.
If you are brand new here, and are like... "Geez, this sucks! I just got here and this guy takes a break?!" Please enjoy the great links in my blogroll, or perhaps take a visit to the archives. There are still some readers that think Trish from "The Walk to 40 Weeks" is my wife, and they can't figure out why I don't post pictures of Leo :)
And I have to be sure to say that I absolutely appreciate the comments about the "Do What You Love" series so far. It has been so fun to make. I just finished another one yesterday and can't wait to share it when I get back. Thank you so much for the support and the feedback on all of it. I can't wait to branch out and share some stories from people outside of my life that I have been inspired by lately.
Since I won't be blogging before the holiday. Have a great Halloween everyone. We still have no idea what the kids are going to be. LB keeps handing us his old skeleton costume, and Tessa was going to go as "Hit-Girl" but the swords are too long for her to carry :)
If you don't follow me on Twitter. I will be poking around there still from time to time. Come say hello.

Best wishes for your productivity until your return :)
I really enjoy the "Do What You Love" series and look forward to it each week!
I hope we get to hear good news soon!
aw man I've been waiting for a new video of Tessa. She is so cute.
I'm still trying to come up with a catchy name for doing the video thing of my 8 month old baby boy.
Take care, get your desk cleaned, and have a safe Halloween.
Cant wait for the next "Do what you love" segment!! Oh and also to see costume pictures!
Oh MAN! Not even a TINY hint.......
@ Jules-I thought I did give a tiny hint.
See you when you get back :)
so thrilled to hear you have some awesome things coming you way!
enjoy your break with your family and your incredible work.
Soooo... you don't know me and I've probably only commented once (if that?) but I've been following your blog since about the 20th week or so of your wife's pregnancy with Tessa.
A lot of bloggers intend to "take a break" for a few weeks or a month- but somehow life gets in the way, circumstances change and all the sudden a blog is no longer in the top 5 of their weekly "to do" lists. Weeks turn into months and more quickly than intended, years. I'm a lurker by nature and as much as I enjoy reading your updates, I still hardly ever enter that "leave your comment" section. Shyness, a lack of anything clever to say; Who knows why. But that's not the point of my little schpeal. The point is that I am an avid reader and of the hundreds of blogs I have on my "feeds" list, yours is my absolute favorite.
I am a future midwife, so when I happened upon your blog (I believe originally from your wife's livejournal- though I've lost that in the shuffle) I was intrigued by the idea of a man's perspective on a pregnancy. Your apparent love for her, as well as for the son you took to raise, is nothing short of extraordinary. I came back every week to see the progress and sneak a peak at your experiences. Watching your level of dedication to the projects involving your family, while not letting life get in the way of sharing the joy of your happy home with the rest of the world is nothing short of inspiring to me. Your children seem so happy, healthy and loved that it seems impossible for anything to ever stand in your way.
Blogs are one of those quirky little examples of technology running away with us. Many are just a time suck and when two minutes turns into two hours, all the sudden you realize what time it is and feel as though you've wasted too much of your time. To me, Pacing The Panic Room doesn't feel that way. Every time I surf through your photos or stop to read a new section, when I'm done I feel like I've just curled up with a great book and can't wait for the next chapter. Your projects are inventive, your taste in music is impeccable and even through trials and tribulations, your family seems almost romantically perfect from the other side of the looking glass.
The point of this too-long and probably too-personal confession is that I do wish you luck on your endeavors between now and then, but don't forget that some of us in cyberspace will count the days because you and your family really are that interesting to us. I hope we don't fall off your list and you do keep PTPR in your top 5, however busy life does become.
Sincerely Yours.
Your "Do What You Love" segment is wonderful.
Hope you have a fun and productive break as well as a safe Halloween.
You will be missed, but you're right it gives me time to catch up. As if I've never watched the first season of a favorite TV show and I just got the DVD set in from Netflix.
If I haven't said it lately...thank you for sharing what you do.
Absolutely love your blog....Just found it last week and enjoy your stories and pictures. My kids love watching the videos of LB and Tessa. Happy to hear good things are coming your way! Wishing you luck and anxiously waiting your return!
Wah, Hit Girl!! What an awesome costume idea for Tessa. I can't wait to see her with purple hair. And if that costume doesn't pan out for her, well, Cole would be a pretty sweet Hit Girl, too. Where's your scuba suit, Kickass? ;-)
Have a happy halloween, can't wait the next video and the kids in halloween costumes :)
Thanks for letting us know. I have to admit I was checking each day wondering what had happened to Two and a half Minutes With Tessa this week! Anyway, good luck with whatever you're doing.
Have a fun Halloween...kind of wish we'd celebrate it in Australia like you do in the US. It looks fun.
All the very best to you and your beautiful family. You have all given me many hours of smiles and are helping me look at the world in a new way.
Can't wait to see the next installment, Ryan. Sounds like everything is going really well around here!

Her husband is the creator of Yo Gabba Gabba and they're going through some rough stuff (not dissimilar from you with LB) with their youngest.
can't wait to hear what life has in store. I'm sure it's too cool for school.
Glad to hear good things are comin', and you'll be all refreshed when you come back. Enjoy it!
